here's some blog house (bahahahahhaha) to liven up your weekend.
video: I Scream Ice Cream - Trust Issue.
apparently all the songs over at the I Scream Ice Cream myspace are just snippets from 3 really long songs done by Jesper Mortenson of Junior Senior. definitely excited to get my hands on the full versions.

and here's the track:
Bloc Party - Mercury (radio rip)
i don't know what to make of it. lots of people have been saying it's very Radiohead-esque and other people have been saying it's fucking awful.
ps. anyone going to Offset Festival? i reeeeally want to go.

i can has compilation?
the one thing I’ve always really really loved about Artrocker is the free compilation CDs it sometimes comes with. they’re usually ram packed with brilliant unsigned bands. not just any old unsigned rubbish but quality bands making really decent music that is bubbling away under the surface of the scene.
the first ever compilation I managed to get my hands on was ‘Artrocker Summer Of Six’ which came free with issue 39 in June 2006. looking back, it was a pretty significant CD! it introduced me, for the first time, to Hot Club De Paris, Victorian English Gentlemens Club, The Horrors (lololol), Die! Die! Die!, Punish The Atom and Elle Milano. at the time, I was starting to get into music in a much more serious way and I began to constantly search for any new music. these CDs offered me a great alternative to whatever was on the front cover of NME each week. the bands Artrocker compiled were more gritty, and far more interesting to listen to. every song sounded totally different to the previous one, yet they all managed to fit together like a glove to a hand. much like Artrocker’s writing style, there was no filler and a lack of bullshit.
with their latest offering, Artrocker has brought much of the same. ‘Artrocker Unsigned ’08 Vol. 4’ is bursting at the seams with fresh, hot talent. there’s tracks from Elle S’appelle, Let’s Wrestle, John & Jehn and Paper Planes, plus a whole host of ace songs by some even more unknown names. I spend the majority of my spare time (which is.. erm.. all the time) looking for new music and, most importantly, good music. these compilations make my life easy peasy lemon squeezy. someone email Artrocker and ask them to never stop, plz?
here's a few stellar tracks off the latest CD.
White Denim – Mess Your Hair Up
Diamond Sea – Heavy Skies
Racecar Red - Shrimp
it’s probably sold out in shops by now because I’m (cleverly!) a whole month late. but you can pick up a copy of the July issue, complete with CD, here.

fantasy black channel.
Late Of The Pier's forthcoming album, 'Fantasy Black Channel', is paaaaaainfully (and sloooowly) leaking onto the internet track by track.
it's probably safe to say this is one of my most anticipated album releases of 2008. the album is due of August 11th which seems like an impossible amount of time away.
make do with this pretty fantastic track. it's not as devastatingly 80s as previous material, but it's definitely repeat button worthy! lets hope the rest sounds just as good.

the rhythm method.
the rhythm method, also known as "fertility awareness," is a method of birth control that uses the menstrual cycle to predict your most fertile time of the month.
The Rhythm Method is also Sebastien Grainger’s (from DFA 1979) new side project. the forthcoming, double a-side single is being released on 50 Bones. would you ever expect anything less than brilliant from Grainger? both tracks fuse electronic waves with a chilled out bassline to create irresistibly danceable music.
it might all sound like sex but it probably won’t get you pregnant.
The Rhythm Method – When You Go Out
pick up the ltd edition 7” (out July 21st) and listen to the a-side ‘Renegade Silence’ here.

foxes mate for life.

Foxes! have been tucked away on the Oxford and Brighton scenes for a little while now.
their infectiously whimsical indie pop manages to bleet its way into your head. think C86-infused melodic guitar music for 2008. there's a delicateness to it all, even the fuzzy riffs and lurking surf-pop can't mask the delightfulness of Kayla (vocals/drums/keyboard) and Adam (vocals/guitar/keyboard) Bell's interwoven voices.
this is music to skip through sunny fields to.
Foxes! - 6 O'Clock
you can download some more free tracks at their Last.Fm page. or hit up their myspace.

rewind the tape.
i'm not entirely sure how i've gone so long without writing about this band. a demo of theirs plopped itself into my iTunes last October and ever since i have been craving more and more material.
Cassette Kids hail from Sydney, Australia, and they're a fiesty little four piece. singer, Katrina, yelps and roars over fuzzy guitars that sound akin to Yeah Yeah Yeahs. their drums pound away infectiously, which only adds to their pop perfection. don't mistake them for another Operator Please because these guys are in an entire league of their own.

curse vandals.

i rarely post mixes on this blog, but that's because there's so many of them and they're either brilliant and therefore blogged to death, or they are pretty mediocre.
here's a mix my friend Ross has done which is rather ace and hasn't been spread around like syphilis in the 16th century. woo! i'm going to listen to it tomorrow night whilst crying that i'm not going to see Erol, Whitey and Video Hippos at Durr. gutted.
Curse Vandals - Mix 1 [zshare; 53.42 minutes long]
tracklisting:
Style of Eye - The Prophet
Riva Starr - Jack My Bell
Popof - Dust Storm
Zoo Brazil - Crysis
Simian Mobile Disco - Hustler (Jesse Rose Remix)
Italo Boyz - Zinga
Noiz - Feel My Love Online (Intrumental Mix)
Popof - Elektric Circus
Zoo Brazil - Technik
Claude VonStroke - The Whistler (Jesse Rose Remix)
Style Of Eye - Girls
mash up.

not too much is known about mashup master E-603. he hails from New Hampshire and is (obviously) influenced by Girl Talk. and i figured seeing as everyone is going ape over Feed The Animals, it'd be quite fitting to throw some more 'kerrrrrrazy' songs into your life's equation.
E-603 - Crunk Colony
he's giving his entire debut album away for free over at his myspace. almost 38 minutes of 'paaaaaaaartaaaay'. there's Wolf Parade samples. there's Dan Deacon samples. there's Spice Girls samples. there's Queens Of The Stoneage samples. check. it. out.
